The Bookend CD Case is a Bookend format designed especially for compact disc cases, DVD cases and other slim media formats where the most vulnerable areas for damage during shipping and retail handling are the corners and the spine. It has two protective end pieces that grip the CD jewel case or slipcase on both ends to keep it securely in place and protect the most vulnerable structural points without enclosing the entire product in a secondary box.

This format provides an effective and economical way for music artists, independent labels, film distributors and media brands to get physical product to fans or retail accounts without the bulk or waste of a full outer carton, yet still ensure discs arrive intact. The Bookend CD Case’s slim profile also makes it more economical to ship than standard CD mailer boxes, which is important for brands who are handling their own fulfillment and paying shipping costs on every unit that goes out. The outside of both Bookend pieces provides a printable surface for artist branding, release information or a simple logo mark which identifies the sender before the package is opened. Finishing options such as foil stamping and soft-touch coating can take the Bookend pieces from simply functional shipping protection to a considered part of the overall release presentation for limited edition releases or fan club mailings where the presentation of the packaging has a value in itself to the recipient. Bookend CD Cases are available in solid board stock for standard CD case sizes and custom widths for double or triple disc sets and digipak formats.
